Drew Koslow steps down as South RIVERKEEPER.

Read the Board Statement

More than 50 friends, co-workers, Board members, Federation volunteers, and other local Waterkeepers gathered at Chesapeake Bay Foundation's Philip Merril Center yesterday evening to say farewell to Drew.  Moving comments were made by individuals including Michael Buckley, Pat Furguson, Mary Tod Winchester and many others who have had the pleasure to work with Drew during his four years as the South RIVERKEEPER.  He will be terribly missed.

Spotlight on South River

HOMEPORT FARMS PUBLIC FORUM

Tuesday, July 8, 2008 / 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Chesapeake Room, Second Floor / 2664 Riva Road / Annapolis, MD 21401
              (Government Complex)

The Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks and the South River Federation invite you to a public forum seeking ideas for Homeport Farms Park.  Homeport Farms Park is a 25-acre property which was conveyed to the County for use as a passive recreation park.

The property will be managed for parkland, nature preservation and restoration, open space and low-impact recreational uses.

Some proposed activities at the Park will serve as ecological models to demonstrate low-impact development, innovative storm-water management techniques, native plantings and re-forestation and living shorelines.

Some suggestions are:

  • nature study
  • gardening
  • walking and running trails
  • bicycling
  • non-motorized watercraft access
  • environmental research and conservation

The Community's ideas and comments are welcome.  Come join us and share your ideas.

Contact: Karyn Molines, Cultural Resources, Recreation and Parks (410-222-7317) for additional information.
