Upcoming Events

At the end of each summer, the Fish Fry celebrates another year of restoration projects, advocacy work and the push to improve the water quality of the South River. It’s also a day to celebrate the many volunteers and supporters who make it all happen. It has truly become our most popular event, for very good reasons: fresh fish, cooked on-site; clam chowder, Cole's famous home-made hush-puppies and fresh produce from the Eastern Shore.

This year we will feature live music "The Blackjacks" featuring Wendy Lanxner and Amy Freedman

Wendy has been in many DC area groups including Bottomland, ShoSho and has played most every venue around DC including Blues Alley and the Kennedy Center(with Amy in their former band WonderGround) In addition to being a freelance musician Wendy teaches Flute, Guitar,Saxophone and Bass.

Amy is a former mid-day DJ on WRNR(2002-2004)has also been heard on DC101 and XM radio.She's been in many bands and duos including Girl Trouble and WonderGround and is also an actor most recently appearing in the upcoming feature film Roulette(filmed in Baltimore).

Amy and Wendy's music encompasses a wide range of sound from Folk and Rock to Pop. They play familiar favorites and originals.
